Cram has announced that it will retire on November 9, 2026. Save a copy of your material before then. Its official retirement notice says content will not be migrated to another platform.
Your flashcards may hold years of work: words you want to remember, concepts from a course, or knowledge you use every day. You’re welcome to continue learning with Learnalist. Bring the material that matters to you, check how it transfers, and build a review routine you can keep using beyond your next test.
Information checked on October 29, 2026. Learnalist is independent of Cram and is not its official successor.
Preserve your Cram material first
Cram says you can download your uploaded content before the closure. Keep the original files somewhere you can find them, and check that they contain the cards you need. Do this before deciding where to study next.
If you cannot access your Cram account or find a download option, contact Cram support before November 9. Cram’s notice says account access and content retrieval will no longer be available after the shutdown.
Bring your flashcards
Learnalist accepts prepared two-column CSV or TSV text. We have not yet inspected or tested a real Cram export. The steps below explain Learnalist’s existing import workflow; they are not a verified Cram export recipe.
- Keep your original export. Make a separate working copy for any changes.
- Prepare a small sample. Arrange a few plain-text cards into two columns: the prompt first and its answer second. If you include a header row, name the columns
fromandto. Keep extra fields and media in your original backup. - Preview the rows. Paste the CSV or tab-separated text into bulk import, then select Review imported rows. Check the text, accents, line breaks, and prompt-answer pairing before saving.
- Save and begin reviewing. Give the list a title, sign in, and choose Add list over time. Confirm which side you want to see first. Learnalist introduces the material gradually and brings your notes back for review, within your account’s note allowance.
For example, this is a small Learnalist-compatible CSV sample, not a Cram export:
from,to
bonjour,hello
merci,thank you
Once the sample looks right, prepare the rest of your material in the same way. Keep each collection’s title so you can recognise it later. You do not need to manually add a few cards every day to manage the review queue.
This workflow handles plain prompts and answers. It does not transfer Cram review history or scheduling, and it does not automatically preserve images, hints, formatting, or folders. If those are important to your collection, ask for help before proceeding.
Keep learning beyond the move
Use Learnalist for the subjects you choose: language vocabulary, technical terms, course notes, or facts you want to keep using. Recall an answer, reveal it, and choose whether to see the note sooner or later.
Your collection can grow as your interests change. Add something you encounter in a book, a class, or your work, then return to it through spaced repetition.
What does it cost?
Learnalist includes your first 200 created notes free. You can keep reviewing saved notes after reaching that allowance. Deleting notes does not restore it.
For a larger collection, Unlimited Notes: 1 Year allows unlimited note creation for one year and does not renew automatically. Check current pricing before bringing a large collection into review. Moving from Cram does not provide a separate free allowance.
Need help with your export?
Email Chris at chris@learnalist.net. Tell us which export options Cram shows you, what file type you received, and roughly how many sets and cards you want to bring.
If you can, include a small sample containing a few non-sensitive cards you are comfortable sharing. Keep its original structure, but remove personal information. A sample will help us understand what conversion is needed. We cannot promise compatibility or a completion date before seeing it.
Questions from Cram learners
When is Cram closing?
Cram’s announced retirement date is November 9, 2026. See its official notice for account and closure information. Download your material beforehand.
Can I upload my Cram export directly?
We cannot confirm that yet. Learnalist’s current bulk-import tool accepts pasted CSV or TSV text, and a Cram export may need preparation. Try a small sample or email us for help. There is no dedicated Cram file uploader.
Can I bring hundreds of sets?
There is no one-click transfer of a Cram account. Start by checking one collection, then prepare and import the others separately. Review the note allowance and pricing before adding a large collection for learning over time.
Can Learnalist recover cards after Cram closes?
We cannot retrieve cards from a closed Cram account. Keep your own export. We can look at a sample of material you already have and help you understand whether it can be prepared for Learnalist.
Can someone help me work out the format?
Yes, email Chris with the export options and a small non-sensitive sample. You do not need to know the technical format before getting in touch.
Create your Learnalist account or preview some prepared cards.
